My Mother’s Kitchen: Favourite Fudge Recipes

  When mom made fudge, people came for miles and miles…Mom’s fudge was the ‘stuff of dreams’. It was creamy and smooth, melt-in-your-mouth sweet and it made you smile…it was a hit at school functions and sleep-overs, at church bazaars and bridal showers. Enjoy the sweet goodness of homemade fudge.

 Peanut Butter Fudge

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
½ cup molasses
½ cup rich milk (likely whole milk or 5% cream)
¼ cup butter
Pinch of salt


Cook over medium heat until boiling. When mixture is cool, add ½ cup peanut butter and approx ½ tsp. Vanilla.
Beat until creamy. Spread in 8” x 8” greased pan. Let set and cut into squares.


Five Minute Fudge

3 cups brown sugar
¾ cup brewed coffee
¾ cup dry cocoa
1 cup shortening
1 box (or more) Icing Sugar


Measure first four ingredients into saucepan. Bring to boil on medium heat and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Mix thoroughly with shortening and sifted icing sugar. Spread in 8” x 8” greased pan. Let cool. Cut into squares.
